Ramona Irene Thornton

Ramona Irene Thornton died in Houston on the 31st of October 2014. During her more active years, she participated in the functions of her church, St. John the Divine Episcopal Church and was involved in the activities of her community.

She was a member of the church altar guild, a volunteer at the Guild Shop for 35 years, and a member of life Bible Class of Janette Cliff.

She was also a Past President of The Women’s Auxiliary of the Houston Bar Association, a member of the Junior League of Houston, Inc., and a Past President of the Tanglewood Garden Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 64 years, E. H. Thornton, Jr. She is survived by daughter Andrea L. Burnett and husband, Bill; nieces, Patty Cameron, Marsha Lee, and Judy Jones all from Colorado. She is also survived by numerous nieces and great- nephews.

The funeral service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 7th of November, in the Texas Liberty Mausoleum at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway in Houston, where The Rev. Dr. Douglas W. Richnow, Senior Associate Rector at the Church of St. John the Divine, is to officiate.

In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in Ramona’s memory may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
