A few days ago, a great and complex man took his last breath on this earth. Randell Joseph Jensen fought a hard and courageous battle against cancer—and gained his final victory by stepping peacefully through heaven’s gates. The pain is gone, and in its place remains a legacy of love, strength, and devotion that touched every part of his family’s life.
Randell’s journey began with a love story—one boy meeting one girl at the start of what would become a 60-year partnership. Together, he and his beloved wife, Mary Jo Jensen, built a life full of laughter, perseverance, and unwavering love. Before long, the sound of little feet filled their home—the beginning of a family that would grow far beyond what he ever imagined, and that he cherished more than anything.
Randell was a dedicated provider and a steady, humble man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He had a deep love for sports of all kinds—always cheering on his hometown Houston teams, with a special appreciation for women’s basketball and tennis. Whether it was a championship match or a local game, he respected the heart and skill behind every play. Some of his happiest moments were spent at the ballfields, proudly watching his children compete in softball and baseball. His quiet strength and constant support made him a steady presence in the lives of all who knew him.
He never imagined his family would grow so big, but he loved every part of the life he built with that same girl from so many years ago. Now, it’s time for him to transition to a higher place, but he leaves knowing his wife is surrounded by the family they created, and his legacy will carry on through each of them.
We will miss his wisdom, warmth, and the love he quietly showed with each of us. But we know he is at peace, watching over us with that same quiet pride.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Jensen; his daughter, Angie Jensen; and his son, Randy “Bubba” Jensen. He leaves behind six grandchildren—Kristen Jensen, Josh Jensen, Kathrine Jensen, Patrick Jensen, Lauren Jensen, and Joseph Jensen—as well as his beloved great-granddaughter, Seraphina Jensen. He is also survived by his sister, Carroll; his niece, Jenice; his nephews, Clifford, Daryl, and Joey; and his niece, Melissa (Millie).
He was preceded in death by his father, Patrick Jensen; his mother, Vivian Jensen; his stepmother, Betty Jensen; his brother, Pat Jensen; and his nephews, Arlen, Kenneth and niece Kathy
