

Raul Garza, a hard-working, honest, and kind-hearted man, passed away on February 20, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on June 12, 1944, in San Juan, Texas, to Praxedis Garza and Eugenia Garza, Raul graduated from PSJA High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree from The University of St. Thomas.
Raul dedicated his career to law enforcement, working for The Texas Department of Public Safety and various school districts. His commitment to his work was matched by his devotion to his family. Raul was married to Mary Abigail Garza for 54 years, a testament to their enduring love and partnership.
In addition to his professional achievements, Raul had a passion for music and reading, pursuits that brought him joy throughout his life. He was also actively involved in his community, holding memberships in LULAC, DPSOA, the Texas State Troopers Association, and the University of Alabama National Alumni Association.
Raul is survived by his wife, Mary Abigail Garza; his children, Raul Joshua Garza and Marisa Antonia Taylor, along with her husband Matthew Taylor; his grandchild, Jade A. Garza; and his sister, Mary A. Solis.
A visitation will be held on March 3, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at American Heritage Funeral Home, located at 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A rosary will take place on the same day from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the same location.
The celebration of Raul's life will be held on March 4, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at St Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church. Following the celebration, a committal service will be conducted at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038, from 12:45 pm to 1:15 pm.
Raul's legacy of kindness and dedication will be cherished by all who knew him.
