

Mr. Meche was born February 25, 1937 in Crowley, La, raised and lived a good portion of his life, and graduated from Crowley High School. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army’s 11th Airborne and moved to Houston, TX 60 years ago. Ray was a member of the American Legion, and member of the Machinist Union. Ray worked as a CamVac operator for Cameron Iron Works/Wyman Gordan for 37 years. He was a big sports fan, lover of music, and enjoyed dancing to French music with his wife. Not only was he quite the handyman, but he was also coach for his kids' sports teams. He was a big fan of his grandkids. Ray will be remembered as a strong provider, loving husband and father, and adored by all his friends.
Mr. Meche is survived by his wife of 58 years, Brenda “Leleux” Meche; children Jarrod W. Meche of Houston, TX, Shannon M. Frank of Magnolia, TX, Ray A. Meche Jr. (Yvette) of Houston, TX; sisters Elaine Arceneaux, Velma Dean; brother Bud Meche; grandchildren, Tyler R. Frank, Jillian E. Meche, and Jacob L. Meche; godchildren, Keith Arceneaux and Jodi Kyle; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vivian and Wilford Meche; son, Brian Joseph Meche; son-in-law, Michael D. Frank.
A celebration of life for Ray will be held Monday, October 28, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home-Cypress Cr, 9149 Highway 6 North, Houston, TX 77095.
