Rayferd was born on June 17, 1961 to AJ Colburn and Emma Vick Dietz in Houston, TX. After attending MacArthur High School he went on to work his first job at Walter A. Smith, a road construction company. He continued working in construction for 45+ years and ending his career in construction as the superintendent with AAA Asphalt. In 1978, he met Angela Berry, and they wed in 1979, going on to have 3 daughters, Shonda Kay, Tiffinie Lee, and Ashlee LaBree.
Rayferd was a committed husband, father, and papa determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His devotion and commitment to his wife, Angie, was honorable. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often bragged about. He was unendingly proud of Shonda, Tiffinie, and Ashlee and always did his best to support them in any way he could. His grandbabies could always count on him to provide love, laughter, and a frog in his pocket.
Rayferd was also a passionate outdoorsman and could often be found golfing, fishing, and camping when he wasn’t at home. There was nothing more he enjoyed than being surrounded by his family and enjoying a campfire.
Anyone who knew Rayferd knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. Rayferd is preceded in death by father, AJ Colburn and nephews Chandler Colburn and Austin Colburn. He is survived by his mother Emma Dietz and husband Mark of Houston; his beloved wife of 44 years, Angie, of Cleveland; his daughters Shonda Stuard of Splendora, Tiffinie Garner and husband Brian of Troup, Ashlee Hendricks and husband Canaan of Aledo; his adored grandchildren Kymber, Jerry, Kaylee, Cecelia, Adalynn, Troy, Brodie, and Berkley; brothers Randy, Rodney, and Regan; and numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends.
