

Raymond DeLaCruz 77, was Born Nov 7, 1933 and received by our Lord on April 16th at 9:30 AM 2011. Mr. DeLaCruz was born and raised in Houston, TX and worked in business development early in his professional career as VP for Igloo Corp. Later he formed Delrex Corporation and ran his own company. Raymond DeLaCruz attended but did not complete college and instead followed the rich dad poor dad system and was a self made business man. He served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged after providing his country with full service and continued in reserve duty after leaving the Army. He was Vice President in business development to an incorporated company and a successful business owner of the Delrex Corporation from which he retired. He enjoyed many years of retirement before suffering a stroke in Feb of 2008. He was a full supporter of Junior Achievement and mentored the association for several years and gave wise council to many young people.
Mr. DeLaCruz loved to read, work puzzles and loved animals. He enjoyed talking to people about interesting topics like history and politics but above all he loved people and his Lord.
The Family would like to thank Ms. Lorain Fairfax owner and DJ Fairfax director of Sunset Villa Assisted living; additionally, we’d like to thank caregivers of the facility for the care to Raymond our father and husband. The caseworkers of the Grace Hospice that recently worked to care for Raymond with the family before and up to the time of Mr.DeLaCruz’s passing deserve our prayers and heartfelt thanks. He was preceded in death by his parents Arcadio DeLaCruz and Mother Francis DeLaCruz and his sisters Irene Fuentez and Linda Richarte. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carmen DeLaCruz, Daughters Cynthia Jimenez and Nelda Kortz, Step-Daughters Beatriz Kelly-Serrato, Maria del Carmen Abshire, & Sylvia Serrato. Son James R. DeLaCruz, Step-Son Caesar Serrato. Grandchildren Amanda Renee’ Jimenez, Leslie Kortz & Rebecca Kortz, Nathan De La Cruz, Andrew De La Cruz, Jacob De La Cruz, David De La Cruz, Caleb De La Cruz, Matthew Kelly, Stephen Kelly, Christine Gietzen, Jarrad Abshire, Conrad Abshire, Paul Jesse Haddick Jason Goddard & Kyle Serrato. Sisters Mela Gomez and Annie Abshire, Great Grandchildren Nicholas Abshire, Colton Abshire, Deborah Eden, Elise Haddick (Abshire), and Chloe Goddard.Pallbearers are James R. DeLaCruz, Suresh D. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital. This was Raymond’s preferred charity. Thank you and God bless you for honoring this request. A Visitation will be held Tuesday April 19th from 7-9 PM at Forest Park Westheimer and Funeral Service will be Wednesday April 20th at 10: AM in the chapel at Forest Park Westheimer.
