

Dan was born in Louisville, Kentucky on December 15, 1943, the son of Ellen and Wilbur McGrew. After moving to Texas, he attended and graduated from Bellaire High School in 1961.
From a young age, Dan was attracted to technical traits. Originally he wanted to become an architect and designed models that were displayed throughout his home. He switched majors while attending the University of Houston, and completed a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering in 1966. Dan joined Fluor and held technical and business development positions, such as Lead Process Engineer, Project Engineer, Project Manager and Assistant to Manager of Sales. At the same time he studied at night for 7 years to earn his law degree from the University of Houston in 1971 and joined Davy McKee as Corporate Counsel. He later joined IHI E&C and its legacy companies for over 43 years As Vice President Legal and Secretary of the Company. Dan was an integral part of the legal department and had an extremely sharp mind that could remember meticulous details from his decades of hard work.
His technical background proved invaluable for the company, and he was able to quickly and effectively negotiate with technology licensors. Dan was involved in the legal details of every project the Company executed, earning the trust of clients. Dan also managed all patents submitted on behalf of the company and held seminars to encourage intellectual property awareness. All who knew him admired his legal prowess, enduring optimism and pleasant, approachable manner.
In addition to being licensed to practice law in Texas, Dan was also admitted to the State Bar of Texas and the U.S. Supreme Court. He was a member of the American Bar Association and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Dan was also a registered P.E. in Texas.
He traveled the world in his profession and on vacations with his family. Dan loved cars, photography and planning ahead. He was a loyal colleague who was well respected by all who came into contact with him. He will be dearly missed.
Dan is survived by his wife Arlene (Galon) McGrew, daughters Kaitlin McGrew, Vanessa McGrew, Sheri McGrew, Christina Ghezzi, and grandchildren Anthony, Zachary and Sophia Ghezzi.
