

She was the daughter of Lawrence and Anne Sins and grew up in Southside Place, Houston. A graduate of Lamar High School, Becky met the love of her life at just 14 years of age. Mike, a rockstar drummer in a rock’n’roll band back in 1960, quickly swept her off her feet. They were smitten with one another and remained devoted partners throughout their lives.
Becky was a vibrant and generous presence, full of character and love, who touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. A woman of impeccable taste and charm, Becky never met a stranger and cultivated a vast circle of lifelong friends who stood by her to the very end. Her love for her family and friends was fierce and unwavering.
She cherished the ocean, drawing inspiration and joy from the coasts of Maine and Galveston, where her father was raised. With homes in both places, she delighted in hosting friends for unforgettable adventures yearly.
Becky’s compassion for animals was boundless, a passion she passed on to her children. As a devoted animal advocate, she opened her heart and home to countless strays over her lifetime. Her commitment extended to funding a new complex at Houston SPCA, enabling the organization to expand to care for even more animals in need.
Earlier in her life, Becky served as a docent at the Houston Zoo, where she shared her love for animals with children and the elderly alike, recognizing the profound joy and healing they bring to people’s lives. Her legacy of supporting animal welfare will continue through her family’s foundation.
Becky was also deeply committed to honoring veterans. Together with Mike, she ardently supported the Wounded Warrior Project, the Travis Mills Foundation in Maine, and numerous other organizations that aid service members and their families. She carried a profound respect for the sacrifices made by those who served our country.
Known for her infectious sense of humor and zest for life, Becky was the life of every gathering. For 20 years, she masterminded extraordinary parties that became legendary among her friends. Her home was a welcoming space, hosting benefit concerts that raised funds for numerous causes, including the Center for AIDS and Ronald McDonald House to name a few. Becky had an unparalleled ability to bring people together, ensuring that fun and joy were always in abundance. Her home was a haven of joy and philanthropy.
Becky will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her generous spirit, radiant laughter, and unwavering dedication to her family, friends, and beloved animals have left an indelible mark on our hearts. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire us all.
Becky is predeceased by her husband Michael “Mike” John Cemo, her husband of 55 years.
She is survived by her children, Stephanie and Jason Cemo.
A memorial service is to be conducted at twelve o’clock noon on Thursday, the 6th of February, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family and share remembrances of Becky during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons.
The family will gather for a private interment.
