Rebecca Louise (Bazar) Sims

October 24, 1938 ~ February 19, 2026

Rebecca "Becky" Sims passed away February 19, 2026, at the age of 87. Becky was born October 24, 1938, in Crecy, Texas (Scrub Creek) just north of Groveton, Texas where she was raised and attended Centerville High School. Eventually finding her way to Houston, she met and married John Matthew Sims on April 19, 1962. Within a short time, she had two sons, Eric born May 21, 1965, and Barry born June 25, 1966. Employment took the family to Cuero, Texas for a while, but they moved back to Houston where the boys started school and Becky started work for Cy-Fair ISD. She worked at Jersey Village HS and then Labay Middle School. The job at Labay was an important part of her life for many years. She created lasting friendships and cherished memories that were always part of her life.

As her days at Labay started winding down, her time with her grandkids was warming up. She enjoyed the new purpose and fun times she had with Stephanie, Daniel, and Garrett. Her new name became "Mimsy", and she relished the grandmother spotlight.

Later in life, Becky settled down and retired to Copper Grove in northwest Houston. She had her dogs to keep her company and enjoyed the frequent visits from her family and friends. She read her bible nearly every day and lived her life for the Lord.

Becky is reunited with her parents, Ernest and Reba Bazar. She will also be reunited with her husband John who passed in 1997.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren as well as many dear friends she always considered family.

The family would like to extend gratitude to those who cared for their mother with their friendship and kindness throughout her life, and especially in the years preceding her death. A special thank you to the community and her support at Avalon. She had finally found a place of peace there, and we are grateful for their service.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 ~ 8:00 PM on Friday, March 6 at Brookside Funeral Home-Cypress Creek ~ Houston.

The funeral service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, March 7, at Brookside Funeral Home-Cypress Creek ~ Houston.

A brief graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM at Bennett Cemetery in Apple Springs, Texas.
