Rena Gooden

Rena Pearl Gooden was born on January 23, 1941 to Thomas and Josephine Gooden in Jefferson, Texas. The family later moved to Houston, Texas where she attended local educational facilities for those with special needs.

Rena, affectionally known by all as “Aunt Rena”, loved listening to blues music, dancing, watching television and coloring. She loved being around her family and could proudly remember the date that everyone was born. She will be deeply missed by all.

Aunt Rena was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Gooden; her mother, Josephine Gooden; and siblings Mary Bell Foster, Alex Monroe Gooden, Sr., Robert Gooden, Charlesetta Gooden and Charlie Gooden, Sr.

She is survived by her eldest sister, Tommie Gooden Doiron (Lawrence); niece, Judy Gooden; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A visitation for Rena will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at North Houston Church of Christ, 8203 Jensen Dr, Houston, TX 77093. The funeral will immediately follow from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, 8203 Jensen Dr, Houston, TX 77093. The committal will follow Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 12:45 PM to 1:15 PM at Golden Gate Cemetery, 8400 Hirsch Rd, Houston, TX 77016.
