Reta Elizabeth DeBottis

Reta graduated from Immaculata High School in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She married the love of her life, Richard DeBottis, in Syracuse, New York in 1958. They eventually settled in Houston, Texas where, they raised their two daughters. Reta was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to spend time in the kitchen and was a wonderful baker and cook. She also enjoyed reading and playing card games with friends and family.

Reta was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada to Mary “May” Bridget and Austin McLaughlin on February 25, 1931. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard James DeBottis; her daughter, Christy Anne DeBottis; her parents, Mary “May” Bridget and Austin McLaughlin; three brothers, Weldon, Leonard, and Kenneth McLaughlin; and two sisters, Mary Louise McLaughlin and Lorna McLaughlin George.

Reta is survived by her daughter, Gina DeBottis Metts (John Mark Metts); her granddaughter, Rebecca Marie DeBottis; her great-grandsons, Liam James Rathburn and Kaiden Michael Rathburn; her brother, James McLaughlin (Margaret McLaughlin); and numerous nieces and nephews.

The burial will be held on March 22, 2017 at 10:30AM at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, Texas 77077. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 AM at St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church, 13350 Ashford Point Drive, Houston, Texas 77082.
