

Robbie was born October 15, 1938 to Eliza Ann Houston and John Henry Hubbard in Prairie Lea, TX. His family later moved to Robstown, TX, and later they would move to Corpus Christi, TX where he was raised. Robbie was the middle child of 7 children. He graduated from Solomon Cole High School. In June of 1958, he met and fell in love with and married his “baby’” Doris Austin Green. with whom he was with for 52 exciting years. From this union they raised 9 beautiful children 2 of whom precede his in death. On February 14, 2011 he married Luella Locket they were married 10 years until his death.
Robbie received God at an early age and attended and joined True Faith Missionary Baptist Church pastured by the late Pastor Terry where he was a faithful member until he moved to Houston, TX in 1976. In January of 1999 he joined the Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church founded by Pastor Richard Jones. He was a faithful member. He was a Deacon and later was called to preach, and a member of The Pastor’s Aid. He preached his first sermon on the 23rd Psalms.
Robbie lived in Corpus Christi, TX for many years. He moved to Houston in 1972 and would later permanently relocate his wife and children to Houston in August of 1976. He worked for Gulf Metals for 30 years and when he left the company, he bought his first truck and became an independent contractor working for his self. Robbie always had a kind word and a smile for everyone. He enjoyed his life and the people in it. He would tell you stories about the “Good Old” days that would make you laugh until you cried. He was one of the nicest men you would like to meet, but he believed in the old ways.
Robbie is preceded in death by his devoted wife Doris Evelyn Hubbard, his mother Eliza Ann Hubbard (Maw maw) and his father John Henry Hubbard (Teka), his brothers: Charles Henry Hubbard (Sonny), Bobby Gene Hubbard, and his sister Hazel Marie Harris, his two daughters Pamela Michelle and Augua Evette Hubbard and his grandsons: Garland Craig Taylor, Robert Matthews Jr.
Robbie leaves to cherish His memories: his 2nd wife Luella Hubbard. His 7 children: Rev. Kenneth Green (Lorraine) – (Walder), Blaine Green (Houston), Cheryl Matthews (Robert) - (Pearland), Robbie Hubbard Jr. (Austin), Roderick Hubbard, Karen Hubbard (Lee), and Lawrence Hubbard of Houston. 23 grandkids: Michael Plummer, Christopher Wilmont, Paron (Voncel) Green, Omeshia Green, Cory Green, Cheryl Thorns, Ashley Thorns, Portia McGaskey, Robin Matthews, Kyle Matthews, Chelsea Hubbard, Courtney Lynch, Kendall Green, Cydney Lynch (Christopher), Dominique Moore, Christen Johnson, Asha Chetham, Ryan Matthews, K’ameron Matthews, Jaden Hubbard, Lauren Hubbard, and Terryiona Brown and Jamarcus Hubbard. 23 great-grandchildren whom he loved and enjoyed: Mar’Quel-Jac’Quise Hubbard, Mikiyah Hubbard, Javion Johnson, Mariyah Obrien, Christopher Jenkins Jr., Kaitlyn Hubbard-Lamb, Jacoby Johnson, Joseph Obrien Jr., Chyna Jenkins, Kaidyn Hubbard-Lamb, Chase Jenkins and Chasen Jenkins, Janiyah Hubbard, Kyrie Hubbard, Vincent Roberts Jr., Aneisha Roberts, Lmiyah, Roberts, Krislyn Jenkins, Harmonii Wilson, Brooklynn Green, Ashleasha Green, Ladaisha Green, Shaquea Friar, Naquea Friar, Za’Nirah Ihea Taylor, Brishaunna Green, Deja Nash, Parnell Washington.
Brothers Tommy Hubbard and Cliffton Hubbard and his sister: Betty Joyce Hubbard, and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
