Robert Buckels Connolly

Robert Buckels Connolly, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away December 27, 2010 in Houston, Texas. He was born in St. Augustine, Florida on May 22, 1939. He graduated DeLand High School in 1957, and soon thereafter served as a U.S. Army Airborne Ranger. On February 9, 1963, Bob married Marie Johnson in St. Augustine. He later served two tours in Vietnam, receiving the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart among other decorations. He resigned his commission as Major in 1974, and settled with Marie in Houston, Texas where he became a State Farm Insurance Agent. He continued working with State Farm over the next 36 years, up until his death. Bob’s family and friends remember most his courage, devotion to his family and work, and sense of humor.

He is survived by his son Robert, wife Huong and their children Christopher and Catherine; son Mark; daughter Juliana and her daughter Christiane; his deceased son Michael’s children, Hayden, Hudson and Hannah; and his sisters Mikey Wilson and Bebe Acebal.

Friends are invited to visitation with the family from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 in the Hunters Creek Chapel of Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc, Houston, TX 77024, with reception to follow in the Community Center. Interment to follow at Glenwood Cemetery
