

He served our country during WWII by enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and serving aboard U.S.S. Lowry as a radar man. After returning from the Pacific conflict, he moved to Houston to build a life and attended college at the University of Houston.
He worked as a carpenter after college until his retirement in 1986. He and wife, Jewell moved to Utopia Texas in 1988 where he raised fruit and earned the nickname of “Peach Bob”. Bob was preceeded in death by his wife of 35 years, Jewell, son, Tommy Franks and stepson, Raymond Soehnge, parents, a brother, Earnest Franks, Sisters, Francis Golden and Ramona Lemke.
Cherishing his memory today are his children, John Franks and wife, Cheryl, Joe Franks and wife, Donna, Pam Cates and husband, Raymond, and Walter Soehnge. Bob also leaves behind a sister, Anne Harris and husband, Kenneth, brother, Don Franks and wife, Wanda, along with grandchildren, great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2014 from 5-7 P.M. at Advantage Howard Glendale Chapel, 1015 Federal Rd. Houston, Texas 77015. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Utopia Church of Christ in Utopia, Texas with interment to follow at Waresville Cemetery.
