Robert Hoefler Kjar Colonel, USAF (Ret)

He graduated from Utah State University, received his Masters Degree from the University of North Dakota and was a distinguished graduate of the U. S. Naval War College. He served in the Vietnam War and Cold War. His military career with the United States Air Force involved various positions as a Missile Combat Crew Commander, Squadron Commander, Personnel Data Systems Director and computer Analyst. He achieved the rank of Colonel in only 18 years and retired some years later.

After retirement he went into the nuclear power production business and returned to his home state. He returned to Texas to start his own business. His business career involved the design and development of Veterinary Practice Management Systems, Pet Store and Retail Management Systems. He was active in the Air Force Association serving as President of the Houston Area Chapter, Vice President of the Texas Air Force Association for southeast Texas and in cyber warfare activities to protect America. He worked closely with the University of Houston Air Force ROTC detachment, the 147th Reconnaissance Wing at Ellington Field and the Johnson Space Center to further the aims of air and aerospace power as a means of defense against enemies of our country.

He is survived by two sisters, Colleen Durrant and Judy Cazier in Utah and five children, Robert Michael, Thomas Lyle, David Bruce, Mary D. Perry and Andrew Jason all of San Antonio, Texas. He had nineteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Mary Evelyn Jones Kjar.
