

He was born in California on the 14th of September 1945 to Hazel and Roberto Sarmiento. He is survived by his children, Robert, Eric, Adam, Laura and Kevin; his grandson, Andy; and his brothers, Rick and Doug.
Rob was a psychologist in Houston for over 30 years. Throughout his practice he not only helped the lives of countless clients, but had several publications and workshops to help the greater community. He was very passionate about his job and very committed to helping all those in need, whether they were clients, family, friends or strangers.
Rob also had a passion for learning and for science. He put his brilliant mind to use examining the universe and life. He loved science fiction stories and would often postulate on some of his own from his imagination.
Rob also had a talent for music. He was great on a guitar and even wrote some of his own songs. His children have many fond memories of Rob on his guitar.
Family was very important to Rob. He was always there for his family willing to help in any way. He always encouraged his children to excel and strongly believed in and supported their passions.
His wife of 30 years, Sue Sodke Sarmiento, passed away a year before Rob. Their marriage was strong and their love everlasting.
Rob will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock in the afternoon until eight o'clock in the evening on Friday, the 1st of April, in the Library of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
The funeral service is to be conducted at half-past two o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 2nd of April, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent Grand Foyer.
The graveside service is to be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 4th of April at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 North Interstate Highway 35 in Pflugerville.
