Ronald was baptized at an early age at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church by Pastor AA McCardell. He served faithfully there as a junior usher. While serving there, he became the president at the Junior Usher’s convention, representing his church in that capacity.
Ronald came from a family where he had a brother, Andrew Clifton Jr. and a sister, Ruby Estelle Clifton. Both preceded him in death.
Ronald attended public schools here in Houston: Bruce Elementary, E. O. Smith Jr. High School, and after graduating from there to Phyllis Wheatley Sr. High School, also graduating from there in 1963.
He then began his occupational career with the railroad industry with Southern Pacific in July of 1964 where he served his apprenticeship and became an inspector for the railroad. He held that position until his retirement in 2015.
Ronald married Camilla Ann Marshall and was given three precious daughters: Carla Y. Clifton Jones (Dennis), Joycelyn Rae Clifton and his youngest daughter, Rhonnika Javón Clifton.
When that union ended, Ronald became married to Wyoming Cooper and welcomed her son, Ervin Shaw (Redessa), daughter (Yolande Shaw) and granddaughter, Diamond Shaw, into their union. Where by their marriage lasted until he was summoned home by his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.
In addition to his wife and children, Ronald leaves to cherish his memories 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Christa D. Jones (Carey), Sydni D. Jones, Daeon K. Jones, Javaris R. D. Denman, Fallyn C. G. Goudia, and great-granddaughter, Carreigh E. Jones. He also has two nieces who are like his daughters, Andrenette Clifton Correra (Carlos) and Andera Clifton and their children.
Ronald lived by and wants his loved ones to remember him by this one quote: “I aspire, to inspire, before I expire.”
