

RONALD GENE MERRETT, age 77 years, passed away on Friday, the 12th of October 2012. He was born in Groesbeck, Texas, on the 14th of February 1935. Ron’s family moved to Bellaire, where he attended and graduated from Lamar High School, and went on to graduate from the University of Houston. He was owner and president of WL Golightly, Inc. and Natural Gas Construction Co., then president of Intermodal Container Systems.
Ron was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Helen Merrett. He was a devoted husband of 49 years to wife, Mary Lee Williams Merrett and loving father to son, Trooper; daughter, Martha Elizabeth and granddaughter, Faith Elizabeth. He is also survived by his sisters, Suzanne Lindsey, Dianne and husband Terry Doubek; nephew, Brandon; niece, Susan and husband Wesley Collins.
A member of First Presbyterian Church, he was one of the first Bethel Bible teachers. Ron’s family, friends and business were his life and he was generous to them with his love, time and total commitment.
A memorial service, in celebration of Ron’s life, is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 16th of October 2012, in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church, 5300 Main Street in Houston where the Reverend Andrew Stepp, Associate Pastor of Missions and Evangelism, is to officiate. Immediately following the service, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent Fellowship Hall.
