

Rosa Elva Lujan was a natural leader whose winning presence allowed her to take control of various situations with ease. Equipped with a clear and calculating focus, she possessed a tough-minded, “take charge” attitude. She had the ability to make even routine situations seem exciting, and she was at ease with the role of playing problem solver.
Her parents were Porfirio Gonzalez and Evangelina Cantu. She was optimistic in her outlook on life and was able at all times to be open and direct in her communication.
Her occasional role as family mediator gave her the opportunity to ease tense situations when they occurred. She had one older brother, David, one older sister Jovy, two younger sisters Diana and Angie. 5 younger brothers, Oscar, Jesse, Mario, Rigo and Carlos.
Her curious nature was spurred by her ability to maximize her personal learning style through employing a hands-on approach. She was good with facts and had an excellent memory. She graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in 1970. She enjoyed some courses more than others, having favorite classes and teachers.
Again, her direct, “down to earth” approach served her well. She was able to absorb complex concepts and had an acute sense of how things worked. Her favorite courses were choir and Spanish. Her favorite professor was Mr. Range, the history teacher.
While growing up, some of her best friends were Eva Gonzalez. Later in life, she became friends with David Romero.
She was able to direct her energy and spontaneity towards helping her children acquire added common sense skills. They were also blessed with Seven grandchildren, Zabastian, Zaundra, Zamantha, Angel, Liliana, Elijah and Aubrey.
She could be a leader who sought impact for her decisions. She was a good negotiator who enjoyed new challenges. Her primary occupation was tax preparer. She was self-employed.
She had something of an artistic flair in many of the things that she did. She put this creativity toward all of her pastimes. Her favorite pursuits were perfecting her recipes, playing card games, karaoke, scrapbooking, crafting, and lottery ticket scratching. She was content to enjoy her hobbies alone but was also willing to share her interests with others.
She was enthusiastic and confident about these activities. In high school, Rosa played. In her college years, Rosa continued to stay active by. Tops on her list were football during Super Bowl time, but mostly for the half-time shows.
This skill made her a wonderful asset to the various groups and organizations to which she belonged. In high school, Rosa was a member of the. In college, Rosa joined the choir. Throughout the years, Rosa was an active member at her children's schools.
So it’s little wonder that she was so active and giving in her community. Politically, Rosa was a city council member from 2003 to 2005.
Some of her most prestigious awards included Best Mom Award and later Best Grandma Award.
She preferred to seek out excitement wherever she went and she was partial to vacations that were casual and laid back with an atmosphere of “live and let live.” She was willing to leave her plans open and flexible, just in case something more interesting came along. Favorite vacations included San Antonio, Mexico, California, Florida, Las Vegas and anywhere she went with her family.
She used logical analysis of her retirement options in order to ensure her retirement would be fulfilling. Still, she was able to easily adapt to possible changes and enjoyed just having fun and being relaxed. In retirement, she found new pleasure in cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Alfredo Lujan, her 4 children Zaundra Martinez, Robert Lujan, Alfred Lujan and RosaElva Granlee. Her grandchildren Zaundra Sosa, Zabastian Sosa, Zamantha Sosa, Angel Lujan, Liliana Lujan, Elijah Granlee and Aubrey Granlee. Her siblings, David Gonzalez, Jesse Gonzalez, Diana Gonzalez, Mario Gonzalez, Angie Gonzalez and Carlos Gonzalez. As well as her many loving nieces and nephews. Services were held at Funeraria Del Angel. Rosa was laid to rest in Historic Hollywood Cemetery.
A concrete communicator, she relied on her senses to increase her involvement and awareness of others. She was always able to provide amusing repartee to her friends and acquaintances, offering a seemingly endless supply of quips, anecdotes, jokes and stories.” She enjoyed her life and the experience of living it. This is how everyone will remember Rosa Elva Lujan.

Rosa Elva Lujan, age 71, of Freeport, Texas passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022 surrounded by her loving children. Rosa was born October 15, 1950 in San Angelo, Texas to Porfirio Gonzalez and Evangelina Cantu.
Rosa was raised in Houston, where she enjoyed dancing and spending time with her siblings, who often came to her for advice. She worked for her father's produce business where she later met her husband Alfredo Lujan.
Rosa moved to Freeport where she lived for the past 30+ years. A well-known member of her community, Rosa served as a councilwoman for several years. Astute and determined, Rosa had a passion for learning and owned a tax preparation business.
Rosa devoted her life to her children. She would volunteer her time as a room-mom and made delicious food for her children and their classmates. She was there for every single milestone. She also loved spending time with all her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Porfilio Gonzalez and Evangelina C.Gonzalez,her son Alfredo I. Lujon, her sister Jovita and her brothers Rigoberto and Oscar Gonzalez.
Rosa is survived by her husband, her 4 children Zaundra Martinez, Robert Lujan, Alfred Lujan and RosaElva Granlee. Her grandchildren Zaundra Sosa, Zabastian Sosa, Zamantha Sosa, Angel Lujan, Liliana Lujan, Elijah Granlee and Aubrey Granlee.
