Rosa Torres, a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in her final weeks, on March 9, 2025. Born on August 31, 1937, Rosa dedicated her life to caring for others, especially her beloved children and grandchildren. She was a devoted mother who always put her family first, showering them with love, laughter, and unwavering support.
Rosa spent many years working as a house cleaner and nanny, showing her kind heart through her service to others. Her home was always a place of comfort, and she found immense joy in being surrounded by the people she loved most. Whether it was dining with her family at a local restaurant, watching her favorite scary movies (with *The Stepfather* always at the top of the list), or simply sharing stories and laughter at home, Rosa was happiest when she was with her loved ones. Rosa also had a special fondness for receiving flowers, particularly roses, which brought her great joy and beauty in her life.
Even toward the end of her life, Rosa’s concern was always for the well-being of her children and grandchildren. She repeatedly asked them to go home and take care of their families, always putting their needs above her own. She wanted nothing more than for them to be safe, well-rested, and at peace. Despite her own declining health, she continued to express love and care for those closest to her.
In her final days, Rosa found comfort in the simple joys she loved: Shipley’s donuts, pan dulce, and Jack in the Box tacos — small pleasures that brought a smile to her face and a moment of happiness in her heart.
Rosa’s health took a significant decline in 2023, following the passing of her son, Ernesto N. Torres. She fought valiantly to continue living for her family, but after losing Ernesto, the spark in her eyes dimmed, though her love for her children and grandchildren never wavered. She was a remarkable woman — sweet and loving, but also firm when needed, always guiding her family with a steady hand and a heart full of devotion.
She is survived by her children: Dolores Salina, Rosa Maria Torres, Carlos Torres, Christina Torres, Cindia T. Kologinczak and husband Frank, and Albert Torres and wife Veronica, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rosa was preceded in death by her sons, Homer Torres Jr. and Ernesto N. Torres.
Rosa was cherished by many in her elderly community, where she had built lasting friendships and was well known for her warmth and kindness. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The viewing will be held on March 18, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Pat H Foley & Company, 1200 W 34th St. Houston, TX, 77018. A funeral service will take place on March 19, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Pat H Foley & Company, 1200 W 34th St. Houston, TX, 77018. Following the service, Rosa will be laid to rest at Glenwood Cemetery at 11:30 AM, 2525 Washington Ave, Houston, TX 77007.
