Roscoe Allen Mikel

Roscoe Allen Mikel, better known as "Butch" and "Grandpa" to most, 88, of Houston, TX died in his home on February 27, 2025.

He was born in Brownsville, TX on April 8, 1936, to Charles Mikel Jr & Sara Mikel. He enjoyed his childhood in the country with his parents, 3 brothers (Johnny, Charles, & Harry), and his pet, Javelina Pete, that he loved dearly. His youth was spent in the marines and cowboying from town to town.

Butch is survived by his spouse Carmen Mikel, children, grandchildren & his great-grandchildren.

He enjoyed spending his days with a variety of activities which included traveling to El Salvador, watching movies, reading books, solving a crossword puzzle, playing solitaire on his phone, taking care of his pet Hannah, trips to the gun range, and probably his most favorite; spending time with his family and friends. One of the most genuine, loving, caring, understanding and smartest people who would welcome everyone with open arms & a positive.

R.A. Mikel will always be in our minds, forever in our hearts.

Visitation and Memorial Service is Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Garden Oaks Funeral Home (13430 Bellaire Blvd, Houston, Texas 77083) from 9:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M.

Cemetery Service is Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Houston National Cemetery (10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038) at 1:30 P.M.
