Roshan Bomi Gazdar, of Houston, Texas, passed away on May 2nd, 2025, at the age of eighty. She was born on June 4th, 1944, in Hargeisa, British Somaliland, and grew up in Aden in a large Zoroastrian community.
Roshan married her beloved husband Bomi Gazdar in 1971, and together they raised two children, and many German Shepherd Dogs. Her greatest love was her family, most especially her grandson Leo Gazdar.
She was an active member of the Zoroastrian community in Houston. Her connection to her community and her friendships were the primary source of happiness in her life. She was well-known as the person who stayed in touch with close and distant friends and family and made enormous effort in maintaining those bonds across different cities and countries over her lifetime. She also shared a great love of travel with Bomi, and together they adventured to dozens of countries, always bringing home memorable experiences (and kitchen magnets). Roshan also had a long career as an administrator for the University of Houston College of Pharmacy and retired as part of the Houston Cougar family.
Roshan is survived by her loving husband Bomi Gazdar, her daughter Dilnawaz Gazdar, her son Minoo Gazdar, daughter-in-law Karina Gazdar, her most beloved grandson Leo Gazdar, her sister Rupy Maravala, and many loved cousins, nieces, nephews, and grand-dogs. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gustad and Mehroo Patel, her brothers Rusi, Cowas, and Dinshaw Patel, and her sister Hilla Poonegar.
A visitation will be held at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home on Thursday May 8th at 10am, followed by prayers at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Austin German Shepherd Dog Rescue, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, or other charities to honor our beloved Roshan’s memory.
