Roy Robinson, Jr. was born in Alexandria, LA on August 23, 1945 to the union of Roy and Thelma Lee Robinson, Sr. After serving in the military and one tour in Viet Nam, he made Houston, Texas his home. He worked many years at Quality Steel Manufacturing Co. One of his favorite past time thing was fishing and western dancing.
He accepted the Lord as his Saviour at an early age – baptized in a lake. Joined Second Christian Baptist Church, Alexandria, La and sung in the choir. In the early seventies he decided to make Houston, Texas his home.
On August 2, 1994, he united in marriage to Linda S. Battle. Their union was a soul bonding at first sight. The two connected and did every thing together. Our lives together were destined. The third Trinity of God the Holy Ghost was in this marriage from the very beginning. When you saw one you saw the other. He was a rock. My strong tower. And then he became the best step grand-dad to Clarence my grandson.
He was a prodigal son for a while. But he found his way back and loved the Lord with all his heart. Soon thereafter he made Faith Southwest Church, Houston, Texas his home church and again joined the choir.
November 1999 he made Abundant Life Cathedral, Houston, Texas under the leadership of Dr. Ed Montgomery his home until the Lord called him to meet him. He was active in the Marriage Fellowship Ministries, Intercessory Ministries, and Public Relations/Hosts Ministries. While in his pain and suffering he was still willing to crack a joke, freely give you hope with a smile, a hug and handshake. He inspired lots of people especially those that knew the totality of the sickness he was battling.
Lung cancer revealed itself to him December 1995. It started in his left lung, metastasis to the brain and spine. Years later it came back to the other lung, lining of the bladder, to the adrenal glands, and right knee bone not mention other complications that came upon him. It was early Monday morning February 13th, when an angel came to Roy’s bedside and whispered to call him home. He fought a long courageous fight. And our Heavenly Father said it’s time for you rest my son.
His memories will be cherished by his loving wife, Linda S. Robinson, Houston, Texas, step-daughter Amanda Williams, Houston, Texas, step-grand-son, Clarence Williams, Houston, Texas, daughter LaWanda Jones (Ted), Pineville, La., grand-son Xanthius Xavier Robinson, Pineville, La., grand-daughter Ollie Mae Robinson, Pineville, La., daughter, Rechelle Robinson, Houston, Tx., brother Lloyd Robinson (Ethel) Alexandria, La., his sisters Adeline Baughman (Earl) Desoto, Tx., and Patricia Samuel (Luis Sr.) Nolanville, Tx. and nieces, nephews, host of cousins and other relatives.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes and there shall be no more death neither sorrows nor crying neither shall there be anymore pain for the former things are passed away. Revelation 2:1-4
