Roy Vela Sepulveda, age 81, of Houston, Texas passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024. Roy Vela Sepulveda was a loving husband, the best father, devoted brother, loving brother-in-law, the most loving uncle, and an amazing friend to all.
Roy and Lorraine were married for 61 years and have two children, Leon and Jacki. Roy welcomed his son-in-law Ray and daughter-in-law Roanna into his home and heart and loved them like they were his own. Leon and Jacki's friends loved Mr. Roy and he loved them. Roy loved and went above and beyond to take care of not only his wife and children, but his siblings, in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Roy started working as a delivery driver at Stern Empire Dental Laboratory when he was 19 years old. He retired as a Vice President in 2012. He made numerous friends and colleagues throughout his career. His employees lovingly called him "Chief" and learned so much in the dental trade from him. Roy instilled a great work ethic into his children and taught them to treat everyone equally, from the janitor to the president. He explained that there is something new to learn every day which would be followed by one of his favorite sayings, "Afterall, we're almost grown."
Roy was the rock of the Sepulveda family. His biggest pleasure was when family and friends gathered together, especially for Christmas at his house. His face would light up with a huge smile, a great hug or handshake, and then the celebrations would begin. He loved his music and had so many stories to share when a particular song started playing. He took joy in having an immaculate yard with green grass and lots of blooming flowers. The home that he built for his wife and children was not only his castle, but a hub for the Sepulveda family. All were welcomed all the time. If you entered his house as a stranger, you left as a friend.
Roy will be immensely missed, but we are all at peace knowing that he is up in heaven with our Lord and having a great time with his family and friends that have preceded him.
Whether you knew him as Roy, Uncle Roy, Mr. Roy or Chief, please know that you are just a bit more blessed to have known him, loved him, and been loved by him.
Roy was preceded in death by his father Alfredo Sepulveda and his mother Beatriz Vela Sepulveda; his sister Tina Alvarado; his sister Gilda Cuevas; his sister Rosie Thomas; his sister Socorro Palomares; his brother Carlos Sepulveda; his brother Eloy Sepulveda; his brother Leonidas "Sonny" Sepulveda; his brother Ramiro Sepulveda; his brother Arturo Sepulveda and his brother Hector Sepulveda.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine Y. Sepulveda; his son Leon Sepulveda (Roanna); and his daughter Jacqueline Cosgrove (Ray); his brother Alex Sepulveda; along with numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
