

Roy Smith, 63, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010. His faith and hope never wavered during his courageous battle with cancer. Roy was a “legend” in the oil industry with his expertise in directional drilling and downhole motors. Roy and his wife founded Hands on Holistic Health (a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization) so that he could devote his time to helping people in need. Roy was a very special man and will be remembered for his selfless devotion to family and friends, his unmistakable sense of humor and his love for our Lord. He is survived by wife; Jana Diane Smith of Houston, Texas; son; Jeffrey Morgan Smith of Mountain View, Arkansas; brother: Lyndel “Jerry” Smith of Camden, Arkansas; step-daughter and grandson: Amanda and Jack Thibodeaux of Houston, Texas; half-brothers: Dale and Kenneth Smith of Farmington, New Mexico; half-sister: Shelby Jean White of Carlsbad, New Mexico and numerous nieces and nephews. Roy was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Lue Vera and Kenneth Harris; father, Sherman Shelby Smith and brother, Harry “Bod” Smith. Visitation will be Friday from 6-9 p.m. and services Saturday at 2 p.m. at Pat H. Foley & Co. with Pastor Jeff Rees officiating. The family has chosen cremation instead of burial. In lieu of flowers Roy‘s legacy of helping others may be continued by making a contribution to Hands on Holistic Health, 13350 Perry Rd. #229, Houston, Texas, 77070.Arrangements under the direction of Pat H.
