Rusela Madayag Floresca

Rusela M Floresca passed away on March 25, 2022. She was preceded in death by husband Leonardo E Floresca on July 4, 2013 and son Jorge Floresca on February 16, 2008. She was born on February 20, 1925 in the Philippines.

She married Leonardo on October 28, 1950. She graduated from Sto. Thomas in Manila in March 1950 with a degree of BSE majoring in Physical Education which she taught for more than 25 years in Quezon City schools.

Leonardo left for Houston in March 1977. Rusela and daughter, May followed in July 1977. Their son Jorge and family already reside in Houston. Their daughter Cynthia and family eventually moved to Houston in early 1988.

Rusela loved to cook for family and friends. She played the piano beautifully. She made knitting and crocheting look easy. Her family and friends all own a sweater and/or blanket made from labor of love. Rusela and Leonardo went to Las Vegas twice a year to celebrate their birthdays and wedding anniversary. After retiring from their jobs, they spent their time taking care of grandchildren.

Survivors include daughters Cynthia Diaz & husband Reggie, May Seto and husband Thomas, daughter in law Clarita Floresca. Grandchildren are Melissa and Martin, Clarissa and Chou, Celeste, Randy and Vickie, Racquel and John, Isabelle and Belinda. Great grandchildren are Caitlyn, Carson, Cameron, Leo, Ava, William, Christian and Matthew.

A visitation for Rusela will be held Sunday, April 10, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077. A funeral service will follow Monday, April 11, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A committal service will occur Monday, April 11, 2022 from 11:15 AM to 12:00 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
