

Ruth Mildred (Bringer) Sartorius, 87 widow of Richard C. Sartorius, passed away February 15, 2015 in Houston, TX. Ruth was born November 16, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri to Fred & Mildred Bringer. She attended Washington University in St. Louis and graduated with a B.A. in Art. She designed clothing and shoes and was also a model before marrying Richard Sartorius on Sept 2, 1948.
She and Richard had three children; James Richard, Thomas Charles and Sharon Ruth. Prior to 1967, they lived in St Louis Missouri, Kansas City Missouri and Orange, Texas before settling in Houston. She was a faithful member of Berachah Church.
Ruth had a strong faith in Jesus Christ. She and Richard were instrumental in bringing up their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to be steadfast believers in Christ.
Her favorite past times were Bible study, scrapbooking, and sewing costumes and dresses for her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed celebrating the holidays with her family.
Ruth created numerous oil & pastel paintings and proudly hung them in their family home. Ruth volunteered at Berachah Church, preparing arts and crafts for use in the children’s Sunday school classes. For many years, Ruth walked at Memorial City Mall several days each week. She kept records of her mileage and logged over 1,000 miles.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Mildred Bringer; and husband Richard C. Sartorius. She is survived by brother, James Bringer and wife Shirley of Missouri; sister Patricia Kirwan of California; son Jim and wife Sheila Sartorius of Iowa; son Tom and wife Ellen Sartorius of Houston; daughter Sharon and husband Dwayne Stegent Sr. of Brenham. Also survived by grandchildren: Hilary Sartorius; Heidi Sartorius; Adryan and Nick Dupre; Alyson Sartorius; Erich and Lauren Lehmann; Christopher Lehmann; Bonnie and Carlos Navarro, and six great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
A public visitation will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2015 from 9am to 5pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Berachah Church, 2815 Sage Rd.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials should go to Berachah Church, the American Diabetes Association, or a charity of your choice in memory of Ruth Sartorius.
