Ruth Bernice Christian

Ruth Bernice Christian, 97, passed away on October 31, 2014, in Porter, Texas. She was born on August 24, 1917 in Mauriceville, Texas the third of eight children born to Tojan Frederick and Maria Linscomb Frederick. She graduated from Mauriceville High School in 1935. In 1938 while living in Rosenberg, Texas, she met Lynn Christian and they were married on August 2, 1938. She and Lynn enjoyed 65 years of marriage before Lynn's passing in November of 2003. In 1947, she and Lynn moved to Vidor, Texas, where they lived for 18 years before relocating to Houston in 1965. Ruth worked at Britt's Department Store in Northline Mall, before retiring.

She is survived by her sisters: Verna Hutto of Mauriceville, Texas and Joyce Dickerson of Orange, Texas; sons: Marvin Christian and wife Jerrilyn, Reggie Christian and wife Linda; grandchildren: Rhonna Christian Perry and husband Sean, Tana Christian Stanley and fiance Wayne Bell, William Christian and wife Yvette, Daniel Christian and wife Sabrina; great grandchildren: Kayla Stanley, Chris Stanley, Caleb Christian and Grace Lynn Christian; also numerous nieces & nephews.

Honored to serve as Pallbeaers: Chris Stanley, Sean Perry, Daniel Christian, William Christian, Allen Murphy & Phillip Murphy.

Visitation will be from 5-8Pm on Monday, November 3rd. Funeral service will be held at 10AM on Tuesday, November 4th at Brookside Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Rosewood Cemetery.
