Ruth L. Porras

Ruth Porras met Pete Porras in Gonzales, TX, and they married on April 27, 1947, and were married for 43 years. Together, they had seven children: Evangelina Porras, Sylvia Ann Porras, Pete Porras Jr., Enedina McCrary, husband Cecil McCrary, Alexander Porras, Mary Ann Rodriguez, husband Edelmiro Rodriguez Jr., and Yolanda Porras Castillo, husband Conrad Richard Castillo Sr.

She was preceded in death by her husband, son, and daughter.

She leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren as well as a host of other cherished family and friends.

Three words that capture Ruth Porras are faith, family, and resilience. She was a woman of strong catholic faith who often sought her heavenly father's guidance and prayed for protection for those she loved, including her children, many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Ruth had a love for family. Family gatherings were her passion. Ruth had a resilient personality by always making her rounds in her lush jungle of a garden, taking care of her livestock, such as her roosters, hens, ducks, geese, and cats. Ruth also enjoyed music of many genres and loved to dance. Ruth always had a sense of style; she was a fashion nova. Ruth loved nature and everything in it. Outside was her calm. Ruth always enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.

A visitation for Ruth will be held Monday, June 2, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary service beginning at 7:30pm A funeral Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 10:30 AM, in Brookside's Grand Oak Chapel with burial to follow at Brookside Memorial Park.
