Salvatore “Sal” Puma was born in the city of Philadelphia to Italian parents. A wartime veteran of the Korean War, he was a hardworking and self-made man. Following the war, he was married for 55 years to the love of his life Josephine Rose Cirafesi, who preceded him in death. He was a talented plaster contractor building homes with his father in the northeast for many years before his work in aircraft electronics. Sal then brought the family to the Houston area for logistics and manufacturing management. He was a man of family, faith and friends. For many years he was a volunteer at Holy Family Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #7728. Sal also was a long-term volunteer for the Houston Food Bank and Meals on Wheels. He attended St. Theresa Catholic Church where he was a parishioner for almost 50 years.
He enjoyed a big meal with family and friends, smooth Scotch, a Double Diamond jackpot, a Royal Flush, and a winning hand of Blackjack. He is survived by his brother Michael Puma and wife Madeline, daughter Judi Martin and husband Jack, son Stephen Puma, grandson Michael and his wife Kristina, grandson Matthew, his “puppy” Grizzy and many loving nephews and nieces.
A Memorial Mass will take place at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 705 St. Theresa Blvd, in Sugar Land, Texas, 77478 on October 14th at 1 PM. Visitation and refreshments with the family will be immediately following from 2-4 PM in the Church Community Center.
