I meet Sammy  back in Junior High school along with one of his Best Friends, Bert Mendoza.  Sammy, Bert & I became very good friends & for the short few years we all hung out together, we had a blast. I even remember when Bert got his 1st car. Sammy seemed to be prouder than Bert was (LOL). Even though we lost touch with each other as friends usually do, I never forgot about him, or the suave way he always spoke and joked about things. He had a way about being so smooth & it carried over in the boxing ring as a fighter. The one thing Sammy never did was let the boxer in him brag about it outside the ring. To me he was a very humble soul. In the years after, I always saw his brothers & Pepe most of all & I would always tell Pepe to say hello for me. Back then in those younger years, & not to be disrespectful, we always greeted each other with a "Que Paho Freak". 
It was our way of saying "Whats up my Brotha".  Well my Brotha, 
R.I.P. & God Bless.

Sammy was my childhood friend. We hung out in the late 70’s before I went in the service. Damn good friend who was nice to everyone. Never saw him get mad. He loved to dance with the ladies. RIP Sir.
