Scott Morris was a man who despite a terrible accident chose to live rather than exist. He lost his ability to walk or talk but nothing could take away his spirit. Nothing about Scott was passive. It takes great courage to choose joy when your days are often spent enduring endless medical treatments.
Scott Morris loved his LORD and had an abiding faith. He was a man of prayer. Oh, how much we always loved hearing him "sing" at church. There obviously weren't words, but we could feel the sincere joy and praise that would not be contained!
There was also a tenaciousness about Scott. If he wanted you to know something, especially if it was a prayer request, you had better come up with enough yes and no questions to figure out what was on his mind because he was going to persist until you did. Scott might not have been able to talk, but boy could he communicate!
His loyalty, whether to friends, family, or his fighting Texas Aggies, was undeniable. Scott loved deeply and took friendship seriously. Scott loved people and parties and didn’t mind being the center of attention particularly when we gathered for Christmas Carols. He got to travel to different parts of the world making new friends along the way. While he loved Australia and New York, it was his choice to enjoy life wherever it took him.
He had a keen sense of humor and usually got the joke quicker than the rest of us. He loved to tease friends and family equally; no one was immune. We will never forget his impish grin or the joy and laughter he shared. Scott influenced each of us and enhanced our lives. We will miss you Scott.
