Letting Go

The Angels gathered near your bed,

so very close to you.

For they knew the pain and suffering

that you were going through.

I thought about so many things,

as I held tightly to your hand.

Oh, how I wished that you were

strong and happy once again.

But your eyes were looking homeward, 


to that place beyond the sky.

Where Jesus held His outstretched arms, 


it was time to say goodbye.

I struggled with my selfish thoughts,

for I wanted you to stay.

So we could walk and talk again,

like we did - just yesterday.

But Jesus knew the answer,

and I knew He loved you so.

So I gave to you life’s greatest gift,

the gift of letting go.

Sherry was born March 21, 1958 to Shirley and Ottis Polk. She was so bright, kind and full of love. She was a loving mother, a helpful daughter, caring sister and friend to many. Her presence will be forever missed.

Sherry's memory will live on through her surviving family - Her son Eric Joseph Peterson, her mother Shirley Polk Dronet, her brothers Steve Polk, Randall Polk and Gary Dronet. Her sisters Karen Polk, Kathy Deskin, Patty Dronet. Sherry will always stay in the hearts of countless other family and friends.

Please come celebrate her life. A visitation for Sherry will be held Saturday, January 9, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Pat H. Foley & Company, 1200 West 34th Street, Houston, TX 77018. A funeral service will occur Saturday, January 9, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM, 1200 West 34th Street, Houston, TX 77018. A committal service will occur Saturday, January 9, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079.
