Sheryl Lynn Young

Sheryl Lynn Young, 61, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 19, 2016. She was born on December 12, 1954 to MacDonald Richardson and Bessie Arlene Jones Richardson in Houston, Texas. Sheryl lived a life full of love for God, her family and friends. She spent the past 35 years in the insurance industry, touching lives and enjoying the co-workers she met along the way. Sheryl married the love of her life Ricky, 12 years ago. Afterwards, life was full of adventurous trips and family outings with her loved ones. There was never a dull moment. One of Sheryl's greatest accomplishments was raising her daughter, Stacie, and she was very proud of her. She loved spending time with her granddaughters. She loved to travel, fish, sit on the beach and work in her yard. Sheryl was a fantastic cook. She loved to BBQ and cook chicken and dumplings which were second to none. She was crafty and even learned how to do stained glass and she also loved to paint. Sheryl always put others first with her caring heart, and would do anything to help other people. Sheryl was also a very strong person and was very protective of her family. Christmas was her favorite holiday, it brought her great joy to spend it with her family. Her Grandchildren were the light of her life, she loved to spoil them and give them everything their hearts desired. She loved having them over and they loved spending time with their "Nannie". She built memories to last a lifetime and she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Sheryl is preceded in death by her mother, Bessie Arlene Jones Richardson. She is survived by her father, MacDonald Richardson; husband, Ricky Young; daughter, Stacie Scalise and husband, Joe Scalise; step-daughters, Kirby Aguilar and husband Joshua Aguilar and Tracy Eppers; grandchildren, Sydnie and Gracie Scalise, Sophia Aguilar and Mackenzie and Faith Eppers; sister, Lydia Rains and husband Jerry Rains; and brother, Tommy Richardson; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. She will be missed dearly.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Brookside Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 11:00am in the Grand Chapel of Brookside Funeral Home. Interment to immediately follow at Brookside Memorial Park Cemetery.
