Shirley Gibson

She was born December 2, 1929 in Webster City, Iowa December 2,1929 to her parents, Elizabeth Marie & Edward R. Claussen.

Shirley graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School and married John B. Gibson on February 10, 1950. She had a career as a bookkeeper in the banking industry for many years. Her passions included gardening, sewing and bridge.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John B. Gibson father, Edward Raymond Claussen, mother, Marie Paisley and an infant son.

Her memory will be cherished by her survivors, daughter, Vickie Gibson Poe; granddaughters, Charlotte Elizabeth Poe, Christie Kay Poe ; great-granddaughter, Caralee Piper Poe; great-grandson, Benny Petry, Reese Andrew Poe and Dylan Winston Poe.

The family would like to acknowledge a special thank you to Be Spoke Hospice, Longview for the care extended to their beloved Shirley.

All services will be held Friday, August 22, 2025 at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A visitation for Shirley will be held Friday, August 22, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will occur Friday, August 22, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The Committal Service will follow at 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039.
