Sophia Lane DeLorenzo, a beloved daughter, sister and granddaughter passed away in Houston, Texas on the 31st of August 2025, at the age of 24. She was born to Sharon and Jason DeLorenzo on the 20th of July 2001, in Houston, Texas. Sophia had a wonderful childhood attending Frostwood Elementary where she played on many sports teams. She attended Memorial Middle School and Memorial Private High School. During those years she enjoyed competitive cheer and spending time with friends. She attended Texas Tech University for two years where she majored in animal science and made many great memories and friends.
Sophia had a deep love of animals. She spent much of her time caring for her dog Bear as well as her guinea pig, fish, hamster, rabbit, turtle, and bird. For three years her joy was taking care of dogs at a local kennel. She was passionate about her job and was thrilled to have that opportunity.
Sophia trusted in God’s perfect plan for her life as she persevered through numerous challenges with her health from birth. Her diagnosis of cystic fibrosis, high functioning autism, depression, and addiction were obstacles she dealt with, but they did not define her. She loved her family and friends deeply. Thank you to all who walked alongside her and encouraged her.
Sophia is survived by her parents Jason and Sharon DeLorenzo, brothers Jack and Grant, and sister Paige DeLorenzo. Other relatives include grandparents Joseph DeLorenzo, Dolly and Joseph Korenek; aunts and uncles: Susan and Drew Whaley, Laura and Kirk Sullivan, Joseph and Lauri Korenek, and Paul and Kim DeLorenzo; cousins: Emily DeLorenzo, Joseph DeLorenzo, Lindsey Brown, Rachel McCrea, Patrick Sullivan, Ryan Korenek, Bradley Korenek, Brianna Doris, Brooke Jones, Lauren Whaley, Blake Whaley and Kyle Whaley.
