

Molly Sosamma Jibrin of Houston, Texas passed away on the 19th day of August 2021 at the age of 67. Born September 17, 1953 in Kerala, India, Molly grew up with their mother, Mary Cherian, her father George Joseph, and sister Leela Palathumpat amongst her other beloved extended family and friends. Molly graduated from the Bishop Chulaparambil Memorial College in Kottayam city, Kerala, and attained her Masters in Child Development from the Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women in the city of Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, India. Molly taught at Chandigarh University in Punjab, India before moving to northern Nigeria where she committed her professional life to teaching in public education in Zaria (Kaduna) and in Jos (Plateau), Nigeria. She later earned a doctorate and continued to pursue her passion for teaching. As an educator, Molly was well loved and respected throughout the city of Jos. She continued her teaching career in Houston, Texas within the Alief Independent School District. Fondly remembered as an intelligent and independent thinker and doer, Molly had an immeasurable passion for cooking; it was her language of love for family and friends. Molly shared her love of gardening with her husband, Mohammed Jibrin. Together they grew a transnational array of fruits, flowers and vegetables that adorned their home in Jos, Nigeria. Molly was actively involved in the Nigerwives Association. A congregant of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Houston, Molly was a committed Christian until the end of her days on this earth.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Cherian, her father, George Joseph, and her husband, Mohammed Wada Jibrin Dida. She is survived by her children (Nina Diffa, Rekia Gina Jibrin, and Saji John Jibrin), her sons-in-law (Diseyi Diffa and Michael Shane), and her beloved grandchildren (Elijah Ebitimi Joseph Diffa, Michael Ebiakpo George Diffa, Noah Oyin-Nua John Diffa, and Sefiya Nyelle Jibrin-Shane). The family would like to thank Alice Sabu and Sabu George for the care and compassion they showed Molly in her final days. The family would also like to thank Usha Babu for the care, compassion, and laughter she shared with their mum over the years. No words can adequately capture the love, sacrifice, community, and support selflessly offered by Senator Emmanuel Diffa, Lissy and Ebere Agomuo, Kanchana and Aako Ugbabe, Onche Ugbabe, Aboyi Olokpo, Regina and Kachallom Buba, Hannah and Prakash Dasari, and Pathrose and Leela Palathumpat.
Visitation with the family will begin at 5pm on September 10, 2021 at the Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home and Cemetery located at 12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77077.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church at 1123 Burney Rd, Sugar Land, TX 77498 on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 10am. Interment to follow at 12:30pm at the Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home and Cemetery located at 12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77077.
