Stanley John Martin Payne was the second to last of seven children (four girls and three boys). He was born in the beautiful island of Barbados to his parents, Stanley and Wilhelmina Payne.
In the summer of 1972, Stanley attended a crusade sponsored by the Six Roads Seventh-Day Adventist Church at the invitation of 'the Moore boys,' his teenage friends. Stanley listened to Pastor Jansen Trotman as he presented. The truth from God is word with great clarity and persuasion. That summer, just before his sixteenth birthday, he was baptized and accepted into the fellowship of the Six Roads SDA Church. There, he got his first significant introduction to music.
In the mid-nineties, he started writing songs and music. With lots of encouragement from friends and family, he was able to present the CD, Arise and Shine, for Thy Light has Come. [Isaiah 60:1].
Stanley cherished the opportunity for a different kind of ministry-- ministry through the "word with song." Stanley was blessed withfour children. He had his share of ups and downs in this life and some valley experiences.
Stanley was preceded in death by his father, Leon Stanley Payne, his Papee- Leonard and Aunty Hunte who raised him. He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother Wilhelmina, his widow Erliana, his children: Rodney, Lyndonne, Royle and Alecia Payne. Grandchildren: Ariyah and Alani Payne, his siblings: Ivy, Henry, Ina, Yvonne and Vincent Payne and Marion Gittens and a host of nephews, nieces and extended family.
Now I close with Stanley’s quote, “Just stay the course, we are almost home. See you there by God’s grace. Until then: Arise and Shine, for Thy Light has Come.”
