Steve was born September 18, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois. He was the oldest of four children and is survived by his brother Paul Galos and sisters, Christine Kahle and her husband Richard Kahle, and Jennifer Galos. After graduating from Las Cruces High School in 1968, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from New Mexico State University.
He volunteered to serve in Vietnam and was a Captain in the United States Army at 21 years old. He was appointed Permanent Captain in 1973. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for bravery in combat and was instrumental in the handling and management of ammunition stocks.
This would be no surprise to those who knew Steve well. He was a ferocious deal maker and used those purchasing skills in his future employment as well as the grocery store. He often left the store with them owing him money.
He continued his expertise of inventory and making deals as a purchasing agent for big engineering companies. He served over 25 years at Kellogg Brown and Root Inc.
He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Margaret “Peggy” Galos. He is survived by his three daughters: Christina Galos and grandsons Steven and William Cooper; Patricia Galos and granddaughter Kaylen Petrich; and Shelly Bender Noles, her husband Michael Noles and grandsons Lance and Luke Noles. He had a recent addition of a great grandson Conner Lee Noles.
He enjoyed nothing more than treating his family and friends to fine dining and high roller good times at the casino.
We miss him so much already. He was the kindness, most considerate man…our hero.
