Benjamin: I recently learned about Susan’s passing; I am so sorry that I did not know. I was a journalism teacher and met her 42 years ago; I met you when your Dad passed away. We spent many happy hours together at workshops, contests, etc. My condolences.

Susan Roberts will always be one of my favorite people. She was simply put a wonderful lady and I miss her. 

Sooz (our farm game nickname for Susan) was always fun to chat with while we were playing the on-line farm game . She had told me her background.  I just recently  finished writing a Faith-based book I'd been working on for nearly 2 years (since my wife's passing) and was in the process of editing it.   Susan asked if I needed help with the proofreading and editing.  I said sure and sent her a chapter.  I was impressed with her knowledge and her love of literature and English and I was further excited to get her help.  I will pray for her each day.  It was an honor knowing you Susan and I hope to see you again someday.  George

I was a journalism and photography student of Ms. Roberts in 1982/83’. She was a  patient teacher whom cared about us and it showed. I have often thought of her over the years. I’m sad she’s gone. Prayers for her family and friends. 
RIP Ms. Roberts….you left a part of you with those of us that  were lucky enough to call you their teacher. 

Well, shoot doggie! Ms. Roberts was a pioneer, bringing desktop publishing and digital cameras into the classroom before anyone else in the state, and she always handled us wacky teenagers with such patience. I'm still working in media thanks to her mentorship and trust in me, and somewhere I still have a few copies of the LPHS newspaper from 1996. My deepest sympathies to her family & friends.

I was a student in Mrs. Roberts' journalism classes and the associate editor of our high school paper my senior year (1995-1996). I have so many fond memories of my time in her class. I would arrive most mornings and she would immediately send me back out with some cash to buy donuts for the class (I had a press pass, so I was allowed off campus for those concerned). She also took a few of us from the newspaper staff to a competition in Austin which was so much fun. She was a dedicated and inspiring teacher. Her loss is deeply felt, and she will be well remembered.

Susan was (IS) one of those people that was willing to help and serve others. She was of tremendous help to me when I came to teach at LPHS in 1995. When there was an issue of any kind, she always knew  the right thing to do. She was respected at LPHS and around the state for the excellent yearbooks that her students produced. You are lucky if meet someone outside your family that truly has a profound effect on how you live. Susan was one of those people.

I remember Mrs. Roberts as an amazing photography and yearbook teacher. She saw potential in me and allowed me to help out and shine. Her humor was amazing and contagious. Her smile was everything. She has left in impact on myself and everyone in La Porte. She will be missed but I know she will always be looking down on everyone she has impacted.
