

Sylvia D. Morgan, age 82, passed away peacefully with her daughters at her side on Friday September 12, 2014 in Houston, Texas. She is survived by her daughters, Glenda Self of Houston, Texas, Morgan Sticklen of Round Rock, Texas, brother Charles Morgan and wife Carolyn of Keller, Texas, sister Nelda Stacey and husband Cliff of Duncanville, Texas, grandchildren Gates Self of Houston, Walker Self and wife Cristina of Dallas, Shelby Sticklen of Round Rock, Ronnye Killian of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, Bryan Killian of Sevierville, Tennessee, son in law Carl Garrett of Kingston, Oklahoma, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Shawn Sunkel and her daughter, Billye Garrett.
Sylvia enjoyed a long career as a secretary, including working for a Harris County Probate Judge and as the executive secretary for the Vice President at Cameron Iron Works for 30 plus years until her retirement. She became a Certified Professional Secretary in 1974 and was active in the Houston Chapter of Professional Secretaries International, serving as Chapter President in 1981. Sylvia was honored as Secretary of the Year in 1985 and again in 1991 by the Houston Chapter of Professional Secretaries International. She loved traveling, reading, gardening, boating, volunteering at her church, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. She was especially proud of completing her college degree at age 78. Sylvia was a strong and determined woman with a great sense of humor and a warm heart.
Services will be held on Thursday September 18 at 1:00pm at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, 1656 Blalock, Houston Texas 77080.
