Tempie Irene Smith

Irene was born in Itta Bena, Mississippi and is the younger sibling of two children. She went to East Tallahatchie High School in Charleston, Mississippi. She married her sweetheart Leroy Smith, and raised three children.

One of the many things that can be said about Irene is that she knew her priorities. Family always came first with her, as there is nothing that she would not have done for her children or grandchildren. In fact, if you wanted to see her light up, all you had to do is watch one of her grandchildren or great grandchildren walk into the room.

After suffering from mini-strokes more than 5 years ago, and battling other health issues, Irene rallied from her challenges and lived a good life never complaining, always keeping a positive attitude and revealing an inner strength and beauty that is truly admired by loved ones and friends that knew her.

Irene had a few hobbies, which included reading romance novels, fishing, and visiting with friends and family.

Irene was reunited with her parents Earnest Edward and Tempie Beatrice Ferguson Smith, her sister Lela Grace Taylor, her husband Leroy Crawford Smith, and her stepson Kenneth Wade Smith, all of whom, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children, Teresa La Rette Peters, stepdaughter Kellye Storm, her beloved grandchildren, Kellye Nicole Maier, Kristle La Rette Peters, Amber Le Ann Lang, Veronica Lorraine Smith, Aaron Nicolas Smith, Ashlyn Nicole Smith, great-grandchildren Zander Johnson Maier, Kaylee Marie Maier and Cameron Oneil Lang.
