Theda Westmoreland, 89, was born on July 26, 1932 in Houston, Texas and died March 10, 2022. She attended Houston First Church of the Nazarene located at 46 Waugh Drive, where she met & married the love of her life, Donald A. Jaggers. Don & Theda were married at First Church of the Nazarene on August 18, 1950 and celebrated 71 wonderful years together. They had 3 sons, Danny, Bryant & Jerry. Theda dedicated her life to be the best wife & mother she could, walking beside and serving the Lord. Theda was a strong & intelligent woman who often held the family together when Don was away serving in the military.
At First Church of the Nazarene, Theda was in charge of the music department and also played the Church Organ. She served in this capacity for many years until they started attending Spring Branch Church of the Nazarene at 1001 Campbell Rd, Houston Texas.
At Spring Branch, now Living Word Church, she served in the choir for over 40 years. She also played the church organ until the instrument was retired. Don & Theda loved to attend the District Retreats, where they helped cook and feed everyone at the retreat.
Theda always had a heart for helping others. She was a volunteer at Memorial Assistance Ministries for 15+ years where she sorted, cleaned and priced incoming donations. She looked forward to going there each week. Theda also had a passion for helping those in need or going thru difficult times. Often she would buy various sizes of the clothing at M.A.M, take them home, and put together bags of clothing for any family she found was in need.
In 1998 she served as editor on a book project for Spring Branch Nazarene “Written So That You May Believe” The Spiritual Landmark of our Lives, published by Morris Publishing.
After she raised her sons, her favorite way to spend the day was reading a book. She was an avid reader. One of her special gifts was writing letters. She had a gift of knowing who to write a letter to and just what they needed to hear, often including scriptures of encouragement or the Lord’s promises. If you were blessed enough to get a letter from Theda, most likely it touched your heart. Theda also loved to put together little gift bags, just because or for special occasions.
Theda Jaggers is survived by Son’s, Danny & (Carolyn) Jaggers, Bryant & (Stephanie) Jaggers and Jerry Jaggers and Sisters, Charlene & (Ronald) Zwink and Sherrie McCarty. Grandchildren, Chad & (Misty) Jaggers, Summer & (Stuart) Weaver, Landon & (Mia) Jaggers, Abby & (Sam) Johnson and many more great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Theda is preceded in death by her parents, John Sherrill Westmoreland & Nancye Bernalice Westmoreland, her Brother, John Sherrill Westmoreland Jr. and beloved husband Donald A. Jaggers.
Today she is finally home in the presence of her beloved Savior and walking hand in hand with Don. We will miss our precious Theda…
