Theo John Lastrape

Theo John was born to Paul Lee and Mary Mercier Lastrape on November 25, 1950 in St. Martinville, LA. He was baptized at Norte Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, LA. In 1975, he moved

to Fifth Ward in the Houston, TX area where he met his Texas family and everybody in the neighborhood. He loved music, especially Blues, Zydeco, and Gospel. He enjoyed family gatherings, dressing up, and dancing.

In 1990 he went to live with his sister Ollie, where he would spend his Sunday dressing up in a suit, drenching himself in cologne, and adoring his jewelry on his was way to church. The rest of his time was spent sitting on the front porch.

After being diagnosed with Parkinsons, he went to Birchwood of Golfcrest Nursing Home where he lived until November 23, 2024, when he left to join his father Paul, mother Mary, and sisters Dorothy and Phyllis. He left to mourn his death: sisters, Louversa (Carl) Dorsey, Ollie Lagard, Elvina Weldon, and brother Paul Jerry (Carol) Lastrape; devoted niece Trinne (Darrel) Daniel, Karen Thomas; Nephew Errol Lagard, Great niece Tamula Lastrape and a host of other family and friends.

A visitation for Theo will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Southeast Community Church, 10413 Ashville Dr, Houston, TX 77051. The funeral service will immediately follow from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The committal will follow services from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Paradise Cemetery South, 16001 Cullen Blvd, Pearland, TX 77581.
