Theresa Lewandowski Bailey departed this life to join her Heavenly Father on May 8, 2015. She was born in Chappell Hill, Texas October 23, 1923 to Frank J. and Veronica Tomczak Lewandowski. At a young age her parents moved to Richmond, Texas and she attended Long Elementary School and graduated from Richmond High School.
Theresa was a farmer’s daughter and proud of her roots. She moved to Houston, Texas in the mid 40’s to work at the shipyard. After World War II 1945, she was employed by Gribble Stamp Company. She met Charles Louis Bailey, Jr. and they were married April 4, 1951. She and Bill purchased a house in Almeda, Texas and lived out her life there.
She is survived by her two sons, Charles Louis “Butch” Bailey, Jr and Bernard Ray Bailey; her step-daughter, Karen Smart; grandchildren, Jennifer Bailey, Margaret Bailey Pollock and husband, David, Josh Bailey and wife, Angela, and Bernard James Bailey, and great-grandchildren, Creed and Charis Bailey.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank J. and Veronica Tomczak Lewandowski; sisters, Regina Michalak, and Eva Bennett, and brothers, Maxie and Clem Lewandowski.
Theresa was the owner of Bailey’s House of Guns, Inc. & Bailey’s Rifle and Pistol Range. She enjoyed helping customers sight their guns for deer season. This woman knew a lot about guns and loved to hear hunting stories…
She loved the outdoors and took pride in her flowers and garden. She was a great cook and many healthy meals came from her garden. Thanksgiving was her time to shine. The family would gather at her house. That’s when the fine china was placed on the table, silverware and cloth napkins. Needless to say she had plenty of dishwashers.
She loved animals. If an animal was sickly, she would nurse it back to health if at all possible – whether it be her dogs, chickens, cats, horses or her peacock, which was her favorite in the end. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, & friend to everyone. If you needed help, she was there for you – whether financial, caring words or whatever the reason.
Even though, she left us to go to her Heavenly home- May 8, 2015 – she left a legacy with everyone she met. We all have made special memories with this amazing woman. Keep those precious to your hearts and she will live on in our lives. For one day ---- We will be together again. Love to her, and she will be missed by all who became a part of her life.
