Thomas Joseph Buttaccio, 62, passed away surrounded by family on March 31, 2019. He was born in Rochester, New York, on September 4, 1956. He moved to Houston, Texas in 1969 and worked for Stage Stores Inc and US Builders. In recent years he has resided in Galveston, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his father, Frederick Joseph Buttaccio, mother, Roberta Ann Buttaccio, and older brother, Frederick Martin Buttaccio.
To carry on his memory he leaves his loving and devoted wife of 10 years, Pamela Hamsher Buttaccio; son Michael Joseph Buttaccio and his mother, Shari Buttaccio, both of Sugar Land; step-daughter Justine St. Cyr of Galveston; step-daughter Felicia St. Cyr who resides in Los Angeles, California; brother Peter Buttaccio of Hood River, Oregon, wife Connie, and children, Dominic and Lily; sister Mary Kay Miller of Grants Pass, Oregon, husband Richard and children Patrick, Ryan, and Casey; Carla Stech of Missouri City, husband, Brock, and children, Elizabeth and Allison; his brother Fred’s wife, Rene Buttaccio of Katy, Texas, and children Fred and Angela. He also leaves behind other bereaved relatives and close friends.
Tom was known for his signature sense of humor. He was an avid collector of Rat Pack and sports memorabilia and could not be beat when competing in any sports trivia game. In the last month when asked by a nurse what his goals were for that day he expanded on the “walk from the bed to the chair in my room” by adding, “going to see Notre Dame play USC in South Bend on a crisp, sunny day in the fall.” We have no doubt that right now Tom is involved in playing in a one-on-one basketball game with his older brother Fred while their parents are trying to referee the eventual disputes that always arise when those two competed. More than anything Tom will be remembered by family and friends as a devoted father and step-father. His love for his treasured son Michael, “Slugger” was legendary. A decade ago when his adored wife Pam and his two cherished girls, Justine and Felicia, entered his life he was truly blessed and his family was finally complete.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Friday, April 5 at Advantage Funeral Home Chapel, 7010 Chetwood Drive, Houston, Texas 77081. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 6 at the same place. The service will be presided over by Father Desmond Daniel, who has become an incredible source of inspiration and comfort to both Tom and the family during the last weeks of Tom’s life.
