Tracy was born on the 21st of October 1960, in Kankakee, Illinois. She attended John Marshall High School in Oklahoma City, followed by the University of Oklahoma. Tracy moved to Houston, Texas in 1980 after taking a job with a commercial real estate firm. Tracy and Joe met at work, and they began a close friendship which grew into a life’s journey together. Joe was the love of Tracy’s life and she was his. They were married in March 1986 and with the birth of their sons, Christopher in 1987 and Colin in 1991, their dream of family was fulfilled. They built a marriage of adventure, fun, respect, support, and most of all love.
Tracy was talented in so many ways but chose to devote her life to raising Chris and Colin. From the moment they were born, she was there for them in every way. Tracy expressed to all who knew her, the pride she felt for the men they had become. Her family continued to grow with the addition of her beautiful daughter-in-law, Maddi Kathleen Peddie. Happiness multiplied when she became GiGi to her precious grand babies, Sloan and Sutton, whom she adored. Becoming a grandmother was one of the greatest blessings of her life.
Tracy and Joe traveled the world extensively, most recently to Rome where they witnessed the white smoke signifying the election of the new Pope. Together they saw many beautiful countries, enjoying fabulous food, history, beauty and friends. They were each other’s favorite companions.
Additional family who meant the world to Tracy include her dear mother-in-law, Jean Peddie, whom she admired and loved as both a mother and a friend. Her Uncle, Mike Tegler and his wife Linda were a constant presence in Tracy’s life, providing a supportive and loving relationship since her childhood. Tracy was blessed to have a close relationship with her sister-in-law, Anne Peddie Connally, the sister that neither one of them ever had. Joe’s brother, Scott Peddie, was also a meaningful part of her life.
Tracy was always up for fun, a “chat”, good food, and a nice glass of wine. She was a wonderful listener, confidant, and a loyal presence in so many lives. Loved ones left to grieve also include a multitude of longtime friends from Larchmont, Briargrove Park and Memorial, where she raised her children, friends from her tennis days, the moms she met at St. Francis, the garden club, and Tangle Lane.
Tracy was a member of the Junior League of Houston, River Oaks Country Club, and River Oaks Garden Club. Among other causes, Tracy supported Houston Area Women’s Center, and she also enjoyed many years of volunteering at the Nutcracker Market.
Tracy was preceded in death by her precious grandmother, Melba Tegler, who helped shape and influence the wonderful person she was to become. Those that went before her also include her uncle Larry Tegler, her father-in-law Rod Peddie, and her brother-in-law John Peddie, all of whom she loved so very much.
Tracy was above all, selfless. She always ensured that others were taken care of before herself. She leaves a vacancy in our lives that can never be filled. Her memory will be forever cherished; friends and family will keep her always in their hearts.
