She was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on May 16, 2023, and adopted by her “forever family” from Houston. After an extended stay in the NICU at Children’s of Alabama, Tru came home to begin her life in Texas, where her siblings and parents showered her with constant love and affection. She was the most popular member of the family. And it wasn’t a particularly close call. Although Tru had several complex medical needs, she was already exceeding expectations in many areas of her growth.
Tru was happiest when she was being held and doted on. There was never a shortage of arms willing to meet that need. She was, quite simply, the sweetest and snuggliest baby there ever was. We miss her terribly.
Tru is survived by her heartbroken parents, Claire and Peter Tipps; her siblings, Nolan, Maggie, and Ishant Tipps; her biological mother, Jayevia Jackson; and her biological brother, Zyon Jackson, each of whom loved her immeasurably. She is also survived by her maternal grandparents, Robert and Carolyn Hicks, and her paternal grandfather, Stephen Tipps; her aunts and uncles, Catherine and Keith Vendola, Lexie and Ryan Johnston, and David and Molly Tipps; and her cousins, Nathan, Andrew, and Luke Vendola, and Eleanor and Annabel Tipps.
A memorial service will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Monday, August 7, in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church, 5300 Main Street in Houston.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the nearby Palm Court.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that those wishing to make a charitable contribution in Tru’s memory to consider Lifeline Children’s Services (www.lifelinechild.org) or Children’s of Alabama (www.childrensal.org)
