

Van Olen Daniel, 83, of Montgomery, Texas, passed away on October 28, 2022. He was born in Houston, Texas on August 17, 1939 to parents Oscar Berry Daniel and Virginia Daniel. Van graduated from Aldine High School. He met the love of his life Elizabeth in Kingwood, Texas and married on March 21, 2010. Van joined the Houston Fire Department (Houston Intercontinental Airport), February 15, 1961 and retired from active service January 2, 1984. The last ten years before he retired, he learned the meat cutting business and retired with twenty-five years of service. His love for old trucks and cars brought him a multitude of friends. He was a 32-degree Scottish Rite Mason and Shiner.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Berry Daniel and Virginia La Verne Nelson Daniel; grandson Nathan Edward Howton.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Ann Daniel; son, Jason Alan Daniel; daughters, Valarie Leigh Daniel Hurst and husband Ricky Ray Hurst, and Amber Marie McClain Howton and husband Jackie Edward Howton; grandchildren, Blake Nicholas Weiser, Hunter Ray Hurst, Jaime Denise McClain, Amber Leigh Daniel Holstein, Dara Nicole Daniel Rutland, Skylar Cheyenne Owens, Summer Kathleen Owens, Layla Elizabeth Howton, and Jackie Forrest Howton II; great-grandchildren, Sebastian Drew Garcia, Oliver Norman Holstein, Leilah Louise Holstein, Lennon Bigsby Holstein, and Zoe May Holstein; sister Carolyn Gayle Ramos and niece Monica Ramos.
A visitation for Van will be held Friday, November 4, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home. A funeral service will occur Saturday, November 5, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A committal service will occur Saturday, November 5, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.
