Vanice Schultz Gostecnik, age 96, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2012. She was born on September 24, 1915 in Waller, Texas to Walter and Lillian Schultz. Growing up in Waller, she met and married Tony Gostecnik, “the boy down the road” on March 22, 1936. They moved to Houston in 1937 and raised their two daughters, Joyce G. Perkins and Marsha G. Smith. Vanice was a long time employee with the Spring Branch ISD. She held numerous offices with TESA, PTA and other educational groups. She was devoted to her family, friends and enjoyed playing bridge, dominos and any game that needed a player.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, her parents and brothers, Charles A. Schultz and W. Edward Schultz and son-in-law James A Perkins Jr. She is survived by her daughters, her granddaughters, Lacy S. Hall and husband Phillip and Lindy S. Avila and husband Eddie and great-grandchildren Braden Hall and Dylan Avila
Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday the July 10, with service to follow at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Waller Cemetery, Waller Texas. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in her honor to the charity of your choice.
